The new leak originates at Google’s own Play Store, where the Nexus 5 will be for sale. The listing for it actually went up, complete with press renders, for a short while. This was either a mistake, or Google simply teasing us. Regardless, we now know that the Nexus 5 will start at $349.
We are assuming that’s for a 16 GB version, although the Nexus 4 did have an 8 GB variant. Regardless, it looks like the next Nexus smartphone will only be $50 more expensive than the Nexus 4 was when it went on sale, which is a rather amazing accomplishment given the rumored specs involved. So once again, Google and LG are going to sell a Nexus almost at cost (through the Play Store at least).
We know that the Nexus 5 will be offered by carriers too, and in that case you should expect a lower price but a requirement for signing a two-year contract (or three-year, in Canada).
